In this last regular article of editor Paul Sharman's short series for beginners on targetting carp on the fly he considers a way of increasing your chances - when one fly is just not enough!

HowardFilms, the US based producers that first brought us the beautifully shot short film called "In Search of a Rising Tide" about Bahamian bonefish, and then the critically acclaimed "Chasing Silver", "Location X" and "Chasing Silver - Andy's Return" series that brought top-class tarpon fishing to our tv screens, are now working on their follow-up project.

"Bass: The Movie" is in production now with plans to release it in the Autumn of 2008 and we have the hot news on this to share with you all including their first trailer to give a taste of the action.

Just as with any sort of fishing, where you fish can often make the difference between a good and an ordinary day of fishing or hopefully catching. Carp are already well known for having certain feeding patterns and routes around their local patch. Studying these and knowing where to start, particularly on a new water can save lots of time when trying to locate feeding carp to target with a fly.

Fish&Fly editor Paul Sharman continues his series on Carp on the Fly by looking at the 3 L's. Location, location, location!

It’s all very nice using top-end, rods, reels, and lines when fly-fishing for pike. After all, we can all benefit from using well-balanced equipment. Making sure that a rod and line marry up correctly. Making sure that the AFTM rating of the rod is sufficient to be able to cast, and turn over a big bushy fly, and making sure that the rod has enough power to be able to control a large thrashing pike to the bank. But in reality, as good as all this is, its what’s on the end that tempts and fools the fish. There are a lot of anglers now entering the sport. Many are traditional fly fishers, who fancy trying something different when the trout and salmon season comes to an end, and some are specimen anglers who simply wish to catch their favoured species by another means.

The Environment Agency is reminding all coarse fish anglers the 2008 close season starts on March 15 and that by the time it ends in June they will need to have bought a new rod licence.
